I lived here from Aug. 2019 (senior in college)- April 2024. Living here was great. There were no bugs, we were never robbed, the neighbors were noisy (literally screaming at each other), but that’s just dependent on who your neighbors are. Management and maintenance was kind and once our lease was over, it went on a month to month basis and I liked the flexibility of that. Good fit for college students as there’s a bus stop right out front.

I wrote a review before, but wanted to update my experience. I wrote that the apartment was ok, but not great. I have spoken with the property manager about the issues, and she was very responsive (shoutout to Giovy). The main issues are not with the apartment itself, but the surrounding areas. The garbage truck will wake you up, and the traffic leading on to the stretch of road that the apartment is on are improving but horrible during rush hour. I like the apartment itself, and management does... an amazing job. However, living in PG county is not the best for me in my opinion as there is much gentrification and little regard for actual improvement by the local government. The one thing I love about this apartment is that utilities are included and that the lease goes month to month after the first year. So I might stay after the first year? But my advice is that PG county is on the decline, and you will hear it from others. Unless you have a deep urge to live in the county, I would recommend other counties. However, this apartment is a gem in that rubble.

I don't know what it is exactly, but I don't love living here. As mentioned, the management and building are fine, but there are some other things that irk me about this place. As mentioned, you will very often in the morning hear dumpsters crashing on the pavement which will wake you up, and the crashing lasts for several minutes and is very loud. The security isn't really an issue as mentioned in one comment below and I do appreciate the lengths they go to keep the building secure. Getting... onto the street where the apartment is is an extreme hassle, especially if you have a car. On one side, there is a light which takes 10 minutes to pass, and on the other, many people stop short to turn into an apartment right off the main road, backing up the traffic onto the major road. Although the walls next door are thick, you will still smell the cooking from next door very strongly, and hear your above neighbors banging quite loudly. I haven't experienced the best experiences with Giovy, but I guess she's okay. The apartment also doesn't really feel like an apartment for graduate students, although semi-advertised as one. I also noticed after moving in that many things in the apartment were not working or not working properly. I had to call maintenance to fix my garbage disposal, and I have had issues with my washing machine (which is quite small by the way) and heating. Fortunately, maintain is very fast with requests. Honestly, I thought I would love it here, but I'm thinking of moving out at the end of my lease, or even leaving early. I guess the apartment is okay for the area, but if you're looking outside of the UMD area, I would unfortunately recommend somewhere else.

The Delano is a very clean and quiet apartment complex. It is located conveniently close to College Park, Silver Spring and Washington D.C. I felt safe while living here (security key fobs are required for building access). There is also a nice gym, game room, and garden area for leisure. Many of the residents are families and graduate students at UMD, so the facilities are kept clean. In addition, the walls between apartments are thick, so there is not much noise from the surrounding apartments... . The staff is quick to respond to any requests and are all super friendly. The place is run extremely well. You are definitely getting your money's worth by choosing the Delano. I highly recommend.
