Perched high with a view of the District, about a half mile walk from the Columbia Heights and U-Street Metro Stations, The Libretto is situated in one of the most coveted new neighborhoods in the District. The Libretto is located along the... attractive and quiet 13th Street. With blossoming foliage and elegant Victorian and Wardman styled townhouses, this low-traffic street distinguishes itself from the rest of the city and provides a peaceful respite from the urban bustle.Experience the culture and invigorating new establishments that make Columbia Heights and U-Street the new “IT” neighborhoods in DC. The U Street/Cardozo Metro Station has catalyzed a resurgence of fashionable clubs, restaurants, and boutiques as well as the renovation of historic landmarks such as the Lincoln Theater. The legendary Ben's Chili Bowl, Bar Nun, The Gibson, and Bohemian Caverns help define the U Street Corridor and give it its pulsating personality. The Libretto features distinguished city living at the center of it all!

This 1 bedroom apartment is large with a traditional layout; it has doors where they should be! There are distinct spaces for the bathroom, linen closet, coat closet, kitchen, dining room, living room and bedroom. The kitchen has a breakfast bar and stainless steel appliances, including a microwave and a dishwasher. There's a wall of windows in the dining area that provide good light and breezes throughout the space. The bedroom is this big: it has simultaneously held (with space to walk) a... queen size bed, love seat, queen size air mattress, dresser two night stands and a file cabinet! It's less than a 10 min walk to either U Street or Columbia Heights metros and the 14th Street corridor, the new bloodline of DC. This puts the apartment very close to the action but just enough away from it on a nice street so this renter can't hear it or see it stumbling past. The lack of bells and whistles keep this apartment firmly average. There is no central air (two loud -ish window units) no in apt laundry (it's in the basement and kind of expensive $1.75 per load), no hardwood floors, no rooftop access and no doorman. However, under this shabby exterior is a rent controlled building (under $1740) with great water pressure (seriously!) and views of the U.S. Capitol and The Washington Monument right out your front door.
