Throughout our 12 month lease we have seen 3 landlords: all incapable of handling issues that constitute housing conditions and potential health violations. Older buildings typically require maitenance. The staff was unresponsive to requests and then requests weren't handled correctly or properly. Utter lack of understanding from upper level management with regards to compensating for breach of contract etc.

They are inattentive to residents, do not follow maintenance requests, they do construction at all hours of the night and day, and the office manager is incredibly rude and hard to find. If there is an issue it is almost impossible to contact them outside of regular business hours. They say they include utilities, but we have had the gas turned off for the building for almost a week now with no indication of reimbursement and no information about what actually went wrong or when it will be back... on. Do not move here. They do not value or respect the residents.

BE CAREFUL
First off.... online it says Pets Negotiable... I got to the apartments to have a showing and was told they only allow cats and that they never allow dogs...... why put pets negotiable when they actually only allow cats... secondly... I've never been to an apartment building that smells so bad... first smell that hit me was marijuana after that I'm not sure what else I smelt... thirdly although it's in a cool location and right by the giant which would have been nice it was so so... sorry the outside of the building looked very dirty and rundown it's just all around very disgusting... I am so glad I was stopped by a women that told me dogs were not accepted...
This building looks to gross to be in the price rang it is in...

I currently share a 1 bedroom apartment with a friend here. The place is nice, and relatively inexpensive for DC. The maintaince staff are friendly and helpful, and it's in a really nice, accessible area. Great for students or young professionals.

Property Manager at Macomb Gardens responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. There have been some onsite management problems and we hired a more seasoned and responsive manager as of late September 2017. Gas service was interrupted by an accidental gas line break. That line of pipe was repaired,... but the break cause multiple leaks that needed to be chased and repaired. Washington Gas, as a measure of safety discontinued gas service to every kitchen on the property. Management has been working diligently with a plumbing firm and Washington Gas to resolve the issue. Management will certainly provide an accommodation to all residents, once the issue is resolved and gas service is restored to all kitchens. Again thank you for your feedback and we will use your review as a tool to improve.
